powers oregon library mural project
This is the Powers, Oregon Library building before Pearl Maxner and the town's kids got a hold of it..

It all started ~ in May of 2010 ~ before school was out, Jr. High Art students held a wall cleaning party…



In the following week, Pearl and husband Jay completed the needed patching, priming and outlining of the green painting areas...



A week later the aspiring artists came back and painted the background green color that would house the bulk of the mural…

The end of June, Pearl Maxner held a two week summer school mural class for students aged 9-18. The class included choosing an animal to draw, computer research of your animal and then learning how to draw them...
The next step was learning how to grid the wall and transfer your drawing to it...

While the kids were working on their individual paintings, Pearl moved around the mural adding artistic details featuring local flora and fauna...

























Now that the young artists have completed their work, it is time for Pearl, with a little help from her assistant, to create the Myrtle Tree entrance.
